Me
My name is Matthew Haney. I live with my wife Mary, little Harry and littler James in a sleepy seaside town in North Kent, England. At work I’m a Developer for PDMS Ltd., creating and supporting web applications using C#. I am also a Sun Certified Java Programmer, and in a previous life I developed, maintained and supported integration solutions using an array of technologies, including J2EE (IBM WebSphere and BEA WebLogic), Informatica PowerCenter and PowerAnalyzer.

Fretnoise.com
Fretnoise.com is my personal website. Sometime back in the mists of time I had big plans for the domain name; I wanted to write a free community-based live music promotion site, where bands, venues and fans could let the world know about local live music, along the lines of gig-guide.co.uk and/or ents24.com. Of course my version would have looked better, performed better, and eventually taken off and made me rich… but I never got round to it. Instead, I started using the name as an online moniker, and the site slowly metamorphised into the blog you see today.
In the old days the site was purely an outlet whilst I learnt PHP, with a hand-rolled weblog and gallery system. Then I found myself continually adding features I’d seen on other more sophisticated blogs, and eventually I bit the bullet and installed Movable Type. Unfortunately, MT soon went all commercial and started charging license fees (gasp!), and so I switched to WordPress. In April 2007 I moved the site from a small home server (affectionately known as ‘Greebo’) to a proper hosted server provided through my brother’s firm, 2G Creative. For the moment I’m flirting with a couple of gallery solutions, but I’ve yet to find one as simple, complex and customizable as I need. As a stop-gap, my new photos are being hosted on my picasaweb site.
