We actually started on Herne Bay seafront, and walked to Reculver and back, but the GPS app on my phone helpfully crashed half way to Reculver. Total walk was therefore approx 7 miles, in 3.5 hours. We need to speed up
The clifftops between Bishopstone and Reculver have a footpath and a cyclepath. It seems that cyclists get cross at walkers walking on the cyclepath (even though it’s signposted as a footpath).

Psht! Cyclist are wankers, aren’t they?
The one we met was, yes. We weren’t actually even in his way, as common courtesy – and a healthy dislike of being hit by a bike – meant we stepped well to one side way before it was an issue.
Argh! I was so enraged by the antisocial attitudes of cyclists that I missed the trailing ‘s’.
Only a secondary consequence of those bloody cyclists arrogance and thoughtlessness but nonetheless serious to a professional writerist.
Maybe James Martin is right after all?

I did mention to Mrs H at the time that if I ever see that particular cyclist on the road whilst I’m driving I’d be tempted to – at the very least – lean out the window and shout “NOT A CYCLE PATH” at him. I think I may have muttered the words “run him off the road”, but I’m not sure it would actually come to that
