Nose = Nose + Grindstone

A week on, and the office is quite quiet and, more distressingly, coffee machineless. It seems the company we lease the machine from finally gave in to our ‘let us out of the contract’ pleas, and unceremoniously came and switched the thing off last week. We’re now in caffeine-limbo until our new machine arrives and is installed, meaning that we have to brave the canteen next door for our fixes for the next few weeks. Oh the humanity. Oh the hostility.

The lovely Mary’s post summed up what has been a busy but very satisfying week. There was (and still is) lots to do, but it feels like we’re getting there. Rooms are becoming rooms again, losing their slightly warehousey feel. Bathroom and BLUE bedroom look pretty stunning (if we do say so ourselves), and the kitchen is getting there. Last night even saw me re-hanging net curtains, and, dare I say it, using the Dyson!

Right now I am waiting to see if a re-rolled WAR file deploys properly (we would’ve gotten away with it if it weren’t for you pesky DTDs), trying to figure out why a cron job doesn’t work properly (yes, even when the script is executable), and thinking about doing some documentation to round the day off. What are you up to, fair reader?

  1. Hi Matt,

    Like the website, and the decorating is exemplary. This is less of a comment and more of a query… I’m a songwriter just moved back to Canterbury after a few years exile. Saw fretnoise are doing an acoustic night at Local Hero records at the end of November. We’re doing a full band gig there in December but would be great to do an acoustic set in the meantime to whip up some interest – wondered if you’re fully booked for perfomers on the 26th Nov or whether you could fit in a man and his piano for a short set? cheers Rich

    A: Reading and replying to your question ;)

    Apart from that, trying to do anything but work and recoverying from the shock that you know how to use the dyson, or did Mary have you show you how to operate this complicated bit of kit ;o)

    Good work on the rooms you two.

  3. Well….. put it this way i think his asthma will be greatly improved it was a bit like those adverts where you have the talc and the floor and hoover it, and you can see a new and slightly different carpet behind it. But we all love him and he is responding well to his retraining programme and i have got loads of teacher stickers for good behaviour, positive reinforcement and all that ;)
