I’d like to publicly apologise…

I’d like to publicly apologise for ever using confusing acronyms. I’m on the receiving end of it at the moment, and boy, that can get annoying. A word from the wise, just because you can make a TLA out of something, it doesn’t mean you should. Oh, and acronyms beginning with ‘X’ aren’t big, or clever. Stop it. :-(

The more eagle-eyed amongst yo…

The more eagle-eyed amongst you may notice that the ‘weblog’ link has disappeared from the bar up there. It’s been removed to make way for the link for the new content which will be making its way up here real-soon-now. Promise. Oh, and if you did notice that, frankly, you’re scaring me – get out more… ;-)

Boring new hardware day. New …

Boring new hardware day. New soundcard (SB Audigy) and new headphone/mic headset thing, so I can rejoin the wonders of voice comms in games now :-D Thanks PC World for mispricing the headset and giving it to me for £10 less than it should have been. Heh heh.

<rant>

Creative Labs. Why oh why oh why do you spend so much effort creating annoying, “take over the pc without asking”-type apps to go with your (admittedly good) soundcards? M$ has already done all that work for you. Why don’t you concentrate on the hardware? And if you’re gonna write annoying apps, do they have to look SOOO bad? Jeez!</rant>

Note to self:

Note to self: You have a development environment for a reason. Develop in it, test in it (if you’re a cowboy), and *then* release it! Especially if you’re playing with a file with ‘global’ in its name which is included on every page of your site. I didn’t even know Macs saved files in a different way to the rest of the world, or that my text editor would let me do that by accident! :-(

Nearing the end of the 1st wee…

Nearing the end of the 1st week of the new financial year (in my company at least). It’s been a week of coding, recoding, a bit of learning, a briefing or two and a lot of head scratching. Which beats a week of nothing, I suppose :-)
